FIRST fosters EU-LA Cooperation on Future Internet

The FIRST project aims to extend and adapt the successful concept of European Technology Platforms (ETPs) to Latin American, by gathering strategic stakeholders from the different sectors included in the Future Internet, ICT Components and systems fields into one national ICT Technology Platform per country in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.
The importance of Future Internet as federated research theme has been already recognised worldwide, e.g. research initiatives in USA (FIND and GENI), Japan (AKARI), Korea or China. Europe’s current research efforts on the Future Internet account for more than 100 projects, involving more than 500 European entities with total EU funding of around €500M, which will be complemented by new projects coming from forthcoming calls of FP7-ICT and the Future Internet PPP.
We trust that FIRST will encourage Latin American stakeholders to actively cooperate with Europeans through R&D projects in the field of Future Internet, and Latin American Technology Platforms will play a key role in this cooperation.
Be the FIRST in the Future Internet world and join Latin American Technology Platforms! www.latin-american-technology-platforms.eu.
